The Karst Plateau stretches between the Vipava Valley, Brkini and the Gulf of Trieste. The limestone soil and water created a unique underground world on this plateau, and the soil enabled the development of incomparable cuisine. Only here the mild climate and the bora enable the drying of Karst prosciutto, and only here the red soil from the Refošk vine makes a good Teran wine. The unique flora accompanies us here at every turn. All this is Karst!
We will drive past Postojna to Sežana and there visit the Botanical Garden, where there are plants from all over the world and also from the Karst Plateau.
After visiting the garden, multivision and the greenhouse, we will continue our journey to the village of Tomaj. Tomaj is a village in the heart of the Karst Plateau, where the bora carries the smell of the sea, and the vines are warmed on the red soil, from which it flows like healthy blood, red teran. The poet Srečko Kosovel spent his childhood in Tomaj. We will visit his memorial room in the family house.
We will end our day with a late lunch at agrotourism farm. We will return home in the early evening.
Idyllic landscape, friendly people, delicious food and helpful guide. Recommend this trip!
